Primary structure of human C-reactive protein.

The complete amino acid sequence of human C-reactive protein has been established. Distant homologies to C3 homology region in the CH2 domain of IgG and to C3a anaphylotoxin have been noted. No homology to other immunoglobulin homology regions or to the same homology region in other heavy chains was observed. The previously reported homologies between rabbit and human C-reactive protein and pro...

C-REACTIVE PROTEIN RESPONSE IN ANGINA PECTORIS

C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.

C-reactive protein: structure affects function.

C-reactive protein (CRP), formerly considered solely as a biomarker for inflammation, is now viewed as a prominent partaker in endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis.2,3 Serving clinically for several years as a nonspecific marker for inflammatory processes, CRP, with the advent of high-sensitivity assays, has emerged as one of the most powerful independent predictors of cardiovascular dis...

Extrahepatic transcription of human C-reactive protein

We synthesized and cloned cDNA from human peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) transcripts that were hybrid selected by pCRP5, a liver C-reactive protein (CRP)-specific cDNA (Woo, P.,J.R. Korenberg, and A.S. Whitehead. 1985. J.Biol. Chem. 260:13384). Three hybrid-selected cDNA clones, HScDNA1, HScDNA3, and HScDNA8, were isolated and characterized. Nucleotide sequence analysis of the 5' end ...

Prognostic value of C-Reactive Protein in Acute Coronary Syndromes

Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is among the most common, serious, chronic and life- threatening illnesses in the world. CAD represents a spectrum of conditions, with acute myocardial infarction at one end of it and silent ischemia at the other. There is growing evidence on importance of prognosis of C- reactive protein (CPR) in unstable angina and this protein is a maker of an adve...
